Helicopter Moving Map Introduced by Flight Display Systems

In-flight Entertainment: The First for Helicopters, plus Street Maps in USA Flight Display Systems, the leader in retrofit in-flight entertainment equipment, today introduced a Helicopter Moving Map product at the HELI-EXPO 2006 in Dallas, Texas. Click here for Specifications Sheet.
“Some of our customers have been using the fixed-wing version of our Flight Display Moving Map on their helicopter for a few years,” said David Gray, Flight Display Systems’ Founder. “We decided that it was time to address this market with a dedicated product package for helicopter in-flight entertainment. Now passengers can follow the route of flight as they approach a city or business facility.”
Helicopters with in-flight entertainment equipment already installed from Flight Display Systems include the Eurocopter Super Puma, Eurocopter Dolphine, Augusta 109, Bell 212, Bell 214, Sikorsky S-61 and the Sikorsky S-76. Passengers for any type of helicopter are provided with real-time flight information, location, air speed, altitude and nearby cities and roads in a convenient cabin display. Avionics shops can easily customize the location database to include custom waypoints, such as downtown helipads or rural factories of the customer. Company logos and Welcome Aboard screens are included at no additional charge.

The Helicopter Moving Map is powered by state-of-the-art Windows XP Embedded operating system software with a worldwide topographic map database. The small computer features fixed flash disk drives with no moving parts, eliminating over-heating issues and vibration concerns. With a weight of just 2.2 lbs (1 kg), the Helicopter Moving Map from Flight Display Systems was designed with compact, rugged environments in mind. The Helicopter Moving Map is available in two versions: the FD200CPU-7 Rev. H, for helicopters with RS-232 navigational systems, and the FD200CPU-8 Rev. H, for helicopters with ARINC 429 navigational systems. Both models are available from DAC International for a suggested list price of $7,124 (FD200CPU-7H) and $8,375 (FD200CPU-8H). For ordering information, contact DAC International at 512-331-5323. Update: Both the FD200CPU-7 Rev. H and the FD200CPU-8 Rev. H are now FAA PMA cabin entertainment equipment!
