NEW Moving Map Introduced!

Graphics Engine, Internal Hardware See Complete Redesign

Flight Display Systems, the leader in retrofit in-flight entertainment equipment, today introduced a new Moving Map product for corporate aircraft customers. The FD200CPU-7 and FD200CPU-8 give passengers pertinent flight information, like airspeed and altitude, while displaying real-time maps of the surrounding geographic areas. Click here for spec sheet.

“Our new Moving Map computer features the latest technology, including a solid-state disk drive and an embedded operating system,” said David Gray, Flight Display Systems’ Founder. “But the most drastic improvement seen in the aircraft cabin will be our upgraded Moving Map views. A customer recently commented to me that it looks as good as HDTV.”

The Moving Map is available in two versions: the FD200CPU-7, for aircraft with RS-232 navigational systems, and the FD200CPU-8, for aircraft with ARINC 429 navigational systems. Both models are FAA/PMA approved and are available today from DAC International for a list price of $6,562 (FD200CPU-7) and $7,813 (FD200CPU-8).

Originally introduced in 2001, this redesign is the biggest improvement ever to Flight Display Systems’ core product line. Many field test units have been deployed to existing customers with great success. With a weight of just 2.2 lbs (1 kg), the Moving Map from Flight Display Systems was designed with compact, rugged environments in mind.

Technicians can easily customize the Moving Map with the Flight Display Systems USB thumb drive and keyboard included in the product installation kit. Adding custom waypoints, such as factory locations or office headquarters, requires only one button on the keyboard. Uploading company logos and Welcome Aboard screens are similarly easy and effective enhancements.

10.2″ LCD now Available in Bulkhead, Ceiling Mount Options

Larger size and new features prove popular with customers

10.2 inch cabin display for aircraft bulkheadFlight Display Systems today introduced two new products based on its popular 10.2-inch Widescreen LCD with Split Screen and Picture-in-Picture. The FD102CV is a standalone bulkhead cabin display, while the FD102CMT offers operators an integrated mechanical ceiling mount.
“Our 10.2-inch screen size is very innovative, and customers love it,” said David Gray, Flight Display Systems’ Founder. “This will quickly become the industry standard screen size for in-flight entertainment displays.”

The 10.2-inch Ceiling Mount LCD provides customers with a rugged, milled aluminum frame to stow and deploy their in-flight entertainment. It makes use of several enhancements to the 7-inch Ceiling Mount also manufactured by Flight Display Systems, but each 10.2-inch Widescreen LCD gives twice as much screen space as a 7-inch display. Compared to a traditional 10.4-inch bulkhead monitors, the 10.2-inch Bulkhead LCD consumes two inches less vertical space. This space saving is an important factor for airplanes with seat clearance or head strike concerns. And because the 10.2-inch Widescreen LCD for bulkhead mounting is FAA/PMA approved, installation and certification has never been easier.

The 10.2-inch Widescreen LCD and Ceiling Mount (FD102CMT, List price $4,766) and the 10.2-inch Widescreen Bulkhead LCD (FD102CV, List price $3,166) are in stock and available today. For ordering information, contact DAC International at 512-331-5323.

New Moving Map, 10.2″ Cabin LCD and Video Amplifier

Flight Display Systems has been granted Parts Manufacturing Approval (PMA) from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for several new in-flight entertainment products.

“We continue to improve our product line and enhance the flight experience,” said David Gray, Flight Display Systems’ Founder. “Offering cabin entertainment products with Parts Manufacturing Approval from the FAA helps to make the installation even easier for our partner dealers and end customers.”

The FD200CPU-7 and FD200CPU-8 are updated models of Flight Display Systems’ Moving Map computer. Featuring solid-state disk hardware and an embedded operating system, this upgraded hardware platform will withstand the most rugged environments.

Flight Display Systems’ FD102CV and DAPS321 are also included on this PMA. The FD102CV is a 10.2″ Widescreen Cabin Display with Split Screen and Picture in Picture capability.
