The Flipper Awarded FAA PMA

Flight Display Systems is pleased to announce that it has received FAA Parts Manufacturing Approval (PMA) for its Flipper 5-inch Cockpit LCD. This PMA covers the two hardware components of the Flipper, the FD90AID (Flip Down LCD) and the FD90AID-DEB-SM (Detached Electronics Box). The Flipper is in-stock and available today for $4,995 – spec sheet PDF.

The Flipper is already being used across the world for military and special mission operations,” said David Gray, President of Flight Display Systems. “This approval from the FAA will give business and general aviation users the benefit of a compact LCD in the cockpit.”

Finding panel room for data like Enhanced Vision Systems (EVS) is an ongoing issue for completion and refurbishment companies. With the Flipper from Flight Display Systems, aircraft operators have an easy to install solution that does not require additional space or a rework of the entire instrument panel. The thin, small 5-inch LCD display flips into position when needed and can be viewed by both pilots.

The Flipper was originally introduced in October 2006. PMA approval was granted to Flight Display Systems from the original Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) holder, OneSky Aviation in Alaska. STC number ST2760AT includes a Forward Vision infrared camera for use with the high-resolution Flipper LCD from Flight Display Systems. Download the specification sheet for more information.
