The patented Flipper design allows operators to easily add a video source into the cockpit without requiring additional space or a rework of the entire instrument panel. These new displays have a single-source input and are typically used to display Enhanced Vision Systems (EVS) or satellite weather information to the pilots.

PMA approval was granted to Flight Display Systems from the original Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) holder, One Sky Aviation in Alaska. STC number SA02332AK includes a Forward Vision infrared camera for use with the high-resolution Flipper LCDs from Flight Display Systems.

In addition to these two models, the company has also received FAA PMA approval for the FD90AID (Standard Flipper) and FD90AID-SMT (Slidemount Flipper).
