In-flight reliability and premium video quality are two things we are very passionate about," said David Gray, President of Flight Display Systems. "The HD-DVR has been in development for almost one year and we are pleased to introduce it at HELI-EXPO."

Launch customers have already purchased the FDHDR200 for delivery in late February 2010. Customer use includes surveillance, mission debriefing, litigation, and training reviews. At half the size of a typical VCR and weighing just 4 lbs 10 oz (2.1kg), Flight Display Systems anticipates many more unique applications for this product.

The FDHDR200 is capable of recording 1080i video from an HD-SDI camera or other SDI source (HD-SDI: 1080i@59.94Hz, SD-SDI: 480i@59.94Hz). The unit includes two 32GB removable CompactFlash cards which can be replaced in flight for additional recording time. Dubbing is also available to an included USB port. A light blue LCD embedded on the front of the HD-DVR allows operators to perform a variety of functions, including bit rate adjustment, system status checks, and CompactFlash card testing.
