New Passenger Briefing System Introduced with Audio & Video

Saves time for charter pilots; Includes Safety, Takeoff, Turbulence, and Landing Announcements

A new passenger briefing system, featuring both audio and video capabilities, was introduced today by Flight Display Systems, an innovator in Moving Map technology.

FD200CPU-CTRL Passenger Briefing System from Flight Display Systems

Designed as an upgrade to their popular Moving Map cabin entertainment and information system, the new passenger briefing option includes a Cockpit Controller. The Controller allows pilots to initiate the audio and/or video briefings within the aircraft cabin, including safety, takeoff and turbulence announcements. This is especially helpful for Part 135 operators who must comply with Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) number 91.519 to provide passenger briefings.
“Unlike competing systems, which charge extra for these briefings, Flight Display Systems will include five generic passenger briefings free of charge,” said David Gray, Founder of Flight Display Systems. “This new product furthers our commitment to Moving Maps and enhancing the flight experience, both for the passenger and the crew.”
For navigation systems that do not output airport ID information, the Cockpit Controller provides an easy-to-use alternative to pilot keyboard input. The Passenger Briefing and Cockpit Controller is a small, one-inch DZUS rail-mounted LED display with six buttons for pilot control. It is available in Black or Gray to match the instrument panel coloring.According to FAA Advisory Circular number 121-24C,
The advantage of an audiotape or videotape presentation is the assurance that a complete briefing is given, that the diction is good, and that an overall high quality briefing is maintained. Tape presentations also lend themselves very well to a multilingual presentation.
The FD200CPU-CTRL is available today for a List price of $2,397 plus installation from a network of Avionics Dealers. Call (678) 867-6717 or visit www.FlightDisplay.com for more information. (Updated price on 2/1/2007)
